Homework, Revision & Support
Reading
Your child should read for at least 30 minutes each evening. They should read a book which is the appropriate level for them. Novels are excellent for engagement but fact based books also offer a lot in terms of expanding vocabulary. A selection of appropriate books for 11-16 year olds can be found here.
Hegarty Maths
Hegarty Maths is an online maths programme that has videos and questions on every maths topic for Y7-11. You can check what your child has been doing and how long they have spent on Hegarty in the “My Scores” tab found in the top right corner when logged in. The aim is to get as many topics at 100% as possible. Regularly check the ‘donut’ on their homepage to see how well they are doing. Go to: www.hegartymaths.com
Daily Quizzes
Please quiz your child using the provider knowledge organiser packs after they complete their retrieval and self-quizzing homework each night using their Knowledge organiser packs accessed below. It should take 10 to 15 minutes to quiz your child each night.
Essays
Your child should put a lot of effort into their essays. If they spend an hour planning, writing and editing, it will be a far better essay than having spent 15 minutes.
